Unlock Ancient Wisdom for a Thriving Future: Join Us at Heritage Food Festival 2025!

Are you ready to truly connect with your food, your community, and the land? Mt. Folly is thrilled to co-host the 3rd Annual Heritage Food Festival this fall, November 7-9th, at the beautiful Terrapin Hill Farm in Harrodsburg, KY. Under the inspiring theme, "Preserving the Future," we're diving deep into the invaluable indigenous food cultures that have sustained communities from the highlands of Guatemala to the Appalachian hollers for centuries.
In a world increasingly reliant on industrial food systems, the wisdom of these mountain-dwelling cultures offers a powerful path forward. Long before grocery stores lined every street, their survival depended on intimate knowledge of their local ecosystems, resilience, and a profound respect for the earth. At this festival, we'll celebrate and learn from these enduring traditions.
Imagine discovering the secrets behind Susana Lein's Salamander Springs Farm, a testament to what's possible on even challenging land. From a hardpan clay thicket, Susana has cultivated one of North America's most productive off-grid homesteads, showcasing the incredible potential of conscious cultivation. You'll gain hands-on experience in a variety of workshops, soaking up wisdom from Susana and other seasoned instructors. Learn vital skills like traditional gardening techniques, identifying edible and medicinal plants, the art of pickling, and the crucial practice of seed saving. This is your chance for face-to-face learning, where questions are encouraged and deep conversations are sparked.
Heritage Food Fest is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in every aspect of food: growing, gathering, processing, preparing, preserving, and sharing food perfectly suited to our home lands. Whether you're curious about making tamales, chicharrones, hoecakes, or cracklins, come learn alongside us! Participate in our vibrant seed swap, a living exchange of biodiversity and knowledge. This festival is about taking tangible steps towards greater self-sufficiency, food sovereignty, and recovering invaluable lost know-how.
We envision a community that sprouts like resilient, old-time seeds – not for uniformity and long-term storage, but for unparalleled taste, essential nutrition, and rich diversity. Join FieldSpeak and Mt. Folly in this vital mission. Help us nurture a food future that's healthier, more connected, and truly sustainable.
Don't miss your chance to be part of this transformative experience! Early Bird Tickets are available through September 15th.
